The purpose of this work was to analyze whether students' academic performance was related to their language proficiency levels. A matrix of rows (students) by columns (variables considered: results of an evaluation of text comprehension and production levels and partial and final evaluations of General Biology) was constructed and processed by means of multiple correspondence analysis. The low average achieved in text comprehension and production evidenced the limited linguistic resources that a large number of students possess. The groupings obtained showed a very close relationship between these linguistic resources and students' academic performance.
