Sumario:This research article tries to answer the question of which conceptions regarding intersexuality and biological sex are transmitted in university teaching, when dealing with sex determination as a curricular content of Biology. For this purpose, a theoretical class in the framework of an introductory genetics course was analyzed and, in addition, a semi-structured interview was conducted with the teacher in charge. In this way, it was possible to identify a series of elements that vary between its classic biomedical approach and a proposal that incorporates a gender and rights perspective. We argue, in turn, that epistemological reflection on this scientific model can contribute to move away from biological determinism in its teaching.
