In 1998 and 1999 it was applied the final evaluation system without promotion, while in 2000 and 2001 the students could optionally promote the asignature. No differences were found between both systems. The differences observed would be more related with the student tan the teaching learning process and evaluation system applied. En este estudio se comparan los resultados de las evaluaciones finales de alumnos ingresantes regulares de Botánica Agrícola I de la carrera de Ingeniería Agronómica (U. N. de Córdoba – Argentina) durante cuatro años consecutivos. En los años 1998 y 1999 se aplicó el sistema de evaluación final sin régimen de promoción, mientras que en los años 2000 y 2001 los estudiantes tuvieron la opción de promocionar la materia. La comparación de los resultados obtenidos entre ambos sistemas no reveló ventajas de uno con respecto al otro. La diferencias observadas, estarían más relacionadas con el grupo de alumnos que con el sistema de enseñanza aprendizaje aplicado y su correspondiente evaluación.
