The mean of exploration consisted of five statements that the inquired rank as for their contribution to the pedagogical ability. Twenty three educators were enquired all of them belonging to two academic units of the National University of La Plata (UNLP). The analysis of the data allowed demonstrating that most of the teachers prioritize the knowledge of their discipline in relation to the pedagogical abilities, emphasizing their distinctive academic profile. Of the two abilities taken into account, clary in oral communicate occupies the first place followed by the empathy and the disposition for the change and innovation. Este trabajo pretende explorar la importancia que un grupo de profesores de Genética atribuye a las concepciones sobre el desempeño pedagógico. El instrumento de exploración utilizado consistió de cinco enunciados, que los encuestados debían jerarquizar. Se interrogaron 23 docentes pertenecientes a dos unidades académicas de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata. El análisis de los datos permitió demostrar que la mayoría de los docentes priorizan el conocimiento de la disciplina en relación a las habilidades pedagógicas, poniendo así de manifiesto su perfil académico característico. No obstante dentro de estas últimas la claridad para comunicar oralmente la información ocupa el primer lugar seguida por la empatía y la disposición para el cambio e innovación.
