The focus is primarily on the contents about Arthropods in the textbooks. The research was carried out by documentary analysis, being guided by what it is proposed in the Referencial Curricular da Educação Básica da Rede Estadual de Ensino of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Six biology textbooks addressed to the official secondary education and edited by different authors, were analyzed. The analyzes showed that these books, in general, present limits in the approach of the content on Arthropods, especially those referring to the concepts of morphology and physiology of this phylum, as well as the relations between the content of Arthropods and the daily life of the students. This work seeks to contribute with a more critical reflection on the didactic textbook of biology of official secondary education in Brazil. Este artigo contribui com um olhar investigativo sobre a questão dos Livros Didáticos indicados no Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD) de 2015, para o ensino de biologia no nível médio do Brasil. O foco está nos conteúdos de tais livros sobre os Artrópodes. A pesquisa foi realizada por análise documental, orientando-se pelo que propõe o Referencial Curricular da Educação Básica da Rede Estadual de Ensino do Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul, Brasil. Foram analisados seis livros de biologia direcionados ao ensino oficial de nível médio, editados por diferentes autores. As análises evidenciaram que tais livros, de forma geral, apresentam limites na abordagem dos conteúdos sobre Artrópodes, especialmente os referentes aos conceitos de morfologia e fisiologia desse filo, bem como nas relações entre o conteúdo de Artrópodes e o cotidiano dos alunos. Este trabalho busca contribuir com uma reflexão mais crítica sobre o livro didático de biologia do ensino oficial de nível médio no Brasil.
