The objective of this work is to depict the educational profile of three zoos in Brazil and Colombia, and to study the approach to the concept of biodiversity within their educational activities. This will be achieved by analyzing the answers to a questionnaire on educational practices in zoos given by the directors of the educational departments of these institutions. Their educational role proved helpful as regards the creation of citizenship awareness in relation to conservation and the ecology and cultural aspects of biodiversity. Actualmente, los Zoológicos e instituciones afines se reconocen como espacios no formales de educación, desempeñando un rol importante en la divulgación de contenidos ambientales. El objetivo de este trabajo fue caracterizar el perfil educativo de tres Zoológicos de Brasil y Colombia en relación con el abordaje dado al concepto biodiversidad en sus prácticas educativas, desde la perspectiva de los directores de los sectores educativos de estas Instituciones, realizando análisis de sus respuestas a un cuestionario sobre prácticas educativas en Zoológicos.
