| Sumario: | Prior knowledge is made up of cognitive structures that play an essential role in the teaching-learning process. The purpose of this research was to detect Non-Compulsory Biology Secondary Education students´ prior knowledge on food and nutrition in a Penal Institution in Spain (Badajoz), and to design an educational intervention aimed at promoting the evolution and improvement of such nutritional knowledge. The results showed statistically significant differences in terms of the variables analyzed, concluding that the intervention made contributes to the students’ conceptual change and to the acquisition of new methodological tools for Biology teachers. |
