We found that the students’ mainconcerns were related to health and environment, with emphasis on the problems of theircommunity. Students and visitors considered the experience to be very positive to improvetheir own knowledge and to help solve such problems in their community. The experiencehelped the students bring together the daily life of a scientist with their own reality living ina farming community with limited resources, and motivated them to keep on investigatingenvironmental problems around the school. Neste estudo, descrevemos o planejamento, confecção e exposição de uma Feira de Ciências Investigativa em uma escola da zona rural de Pernambuco, Brasil. Constatamos o interesse majoritário dos alunos por temas relacionados a Meio Ambiente e Saúde, com ênfase nos problemas da comunidade. Alunos e visitantes consideraram a experiência bastante positiva para a aprendizagem e para a resolução de problemas da comunidade. A experiência contribuiu para aproximar o cotidiano de um cientista da realidade dos estudantes de uma comunidade agrícola de recursos limitados, e instigou o desejo de seguir investigando problemas ambientais do entorno escolar.
