It turned out that the students’ representations are disjointed and fragmented, in agreement with the textbooks consulted - which analysis revealed that they can be sources of difficulties to achieve theright learning. En este trabajo se exploran las representaciones sobre el concepto de gameta en estudiantesdel Profesorado en Ciencias Biológicas, y se contrastan sus producciones con el abordaje del tema en la literatura de uso más frecuente en la Enseñanza Superior.  Se encontró que las representaciones de los alumnos son desarticuladas y fragmentarias, en coincidencia con el tratamiento dado en loslibros de texto consultados, cuyo análisis reveló que los mismos pueden serfuentes de dificultades para la concreción de aprendizajes adecuados.
