It aims to systematize some conceptualizations and classifications useful for the design of laboratory activities. The laboratory practical work is an essential component of science teaching and learning and there are many reasons for its input into classroom practice. When students are presented with well-structured practical works, they have the potential to learn contents, promote critical and creative thinking, and develop positive attitudes towards sciences. Finally, we present two proposals of design of Laboratory Practical Works from a school research approach. Este artículo aborda una acotada revisión bibliográfica sobre algunas posibilidades de implementación de Trabajos Prácticos de Laboratorio en la enseñanza de la Biología. A su vez, pretende sistematizar algunas conceptualizaciones y clasificaciones útiles para el diseño de las mismas. El Trabajos Prácticos de Laboratorio es un componente fundamental de la enseñanza-aprendizaje de las ciencias y son numerosos los motivos para introducirlos en la práctica áulica, por ello, cuando se presentan a los estudiantes de manera bien estructurados tienen el potencial de lograr el aprendizaje de contenidos, promover el pensamiento crítico y creativo y favorecen el desarrollo de actitudes positivas hacia las ciencias. Finalmente se presentan dos propuestas de diseños de Trabajos Prácticos de Laboratorio desde un enfoque de la investigación escolar.
