The resulted meanings were analysed based on the meaningful learning forms such as: super-ordinate, subordinate and combined. One month after the completion of this research activity, students were subjected to evaluative activities with the purpose of verifying the transference of the meanings produced for new problematic situations. The results show that students overcame some conceptual errors in the comprehension of the photosynthesis concept, in relation to the prior  knowledge initially identified in their knowledge structure. Moreover, it was possible to check the hierarchical manner in the organization of photosynthesis meanings in their cognitive structure. Esta investigación presenta un estudio de caso sobre los significados defotosíntesis elaborados a partir de una actividad investigativa, desarrollada con alumnos del sexto grado de la enseñanza fundamental. Los significados construidos fueron analizados con base en las formas de aprendizaje significativo del tipo supraordenados, subordinados y combinatorios. Un mes después de la realización de la actividad investigativa, el alumno fue sometido a actividades de evaluación,con el propósito de verificar la transferencia de los significados  roducidos para nuevas situaciones problema. Los resultados demuestran que el estudiante superó algunos errores conceptuales en la comprensión de fotosíntesis, en relación a los conocimientos previos inicialmente identificados en su estructura. Además, fue posible comprobar la manera jerárquica en la organización de los significados de fotosíntesis en su estructura cognitiva.
