Macroscopic organoleptic and physicochemical studies were performed, along with an examination of documentary sources, as complementary and successive lines of evidence. As a result, an approximation to the different biographical episodes that the painting went through, from its creation to the present, was achieved. A tentative chronological framework was then provided for these episodes. Likewise, different characteristics of the artwork's pictorial technique were glimpsed, allowing for an estimation of the painting's origin. Additionally, the original elements, additions, and subsequent interventions were identified. Finally, the study and careful observation of the artwork put into tension the iconographic attribution with which the painting entered the Center, leading to a change in interpretation.  Este trabajo presenta una aproximación a la biografía cultural de una pintura de caballete de estilo barroco, que ingresó en el año 2019 al Centro de restauración TAREA (EAyP, UNSAM). Para ello se investigó la obra material e iconográficamente a partir de un abordaje metodológico integral, empleando estudios organolépticos macroscópicos, estudios fisicoquímicos e investigación de fuentes documentales como líneas de evidencia complementarias y sucesivas.  Como resultado, se logró un acercamiento a los distintos episodios biográficos por los que atravesó la obra, desde su creación hasta la actualidad, otorgándoles un marco cronológico tentativo. Del mismo modo, se vislumbraron distintas características de la técnica de ejecución de la obra, lo que nos permitió estimar el origen de la pieza. Asimismo, se identificaron los elementos originales, las adiciones e intervenciones posteriores.
