Sumario:The first two decades of the 20th century are essential to understand the different processes of institutionalization of the artistic field in Argentina. Unlike many other cases, the history of the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, Rosa Galisteo de Rodriguez, allows us to analyze the particular way in which it was carried out. A political member of the local society, Mr. Martín Rodríguez Galisteo, built the museum and then donated it to the local government. In this way the process of institutionalization of the artistic field started in the city and in the province as well.To understand these two processes, the one carried out by the museum and the one in the city, two issues should be considered. One is the institutional development of the museum; for which three important aspects should be taken as backbones (for their importance in history and for the amount of sources available as well). They are: The Annual Art Show, the presence of Mr. HoracioCaillet Bois and the building extension between 1936 y 1943 (finished in 1944).On the other hand, we should mention and take into account an institution which cultural and political role is undeniable, the Fine Arts Commission of the province, which cannot be fully understood without the museum and vice versa.
