I arrived to the subject through court records and now I want to know what the cinema can teach me about it: what do the films show us about the history of adoption in our country? In this work I intend to think about how cinema and social history can be nurtured in a research project. This methodological exercise leads me to the exploration of two sets of literature or disciplinary areas: social and cultural history and the history of cinema. With the contributions of both I analyze a handful of films by different authors of classic Argentine cinema. From this double exploration, bibliographical and documentary, I propose an idea about cinema and adoption in Argentine history. Hace años que estudio la adopción de niños y niñas en la historia argentina. Llegué al tema a través de expedientes judiciales y ahora quiero saber qué puede enseñarme el cine: ¿qué nos muestran/develan las películas sobre la historia de la adopción en nuestro país? En este trabajo me propongo pensar cómo el cine y la historia social pueden nutrirse en un proyecto de investigación. Este ejercicio metodológico me lleva a la exploración de dos bibliotecas o áreas disciplinares: la historia social y cultural, y la historia del cine. Con los aportes de ambas analizo un puñado de películas de distintos autores del cine clásico argentino. A partir de esa doble exploración, bibliográfica y documental, ensayo una idea sobre cine y adopción en la historia argentina.
