| Sumario: | The flood in the city of La Plata on April 2, 2013, as a traumatic and unexpected event, caused a destabilizing situation for society. In the months after the event, the local artistic field functioned as a platform that enabled the emergence of multiple proposals that problematized what happened. In this sense, the work proposes a tour of the different exhibitions of visual arts that have addressed the theme of the flood and that have been developed in institutional spaces of the city. In this way, the curatorial account proposed will be investigated from a brief analysis of the corpus of works that made up each proposal.
Finally, the work proposes to reflect on the role of art as a vehicle of memory. Using theoretical contributions on the notion of memory we will seek to study the process of construction of memories around the flood from the curatorial stories present in the exhibitions. In this sense, it is proposed to think of exhibitions as shaping instances of collective memory, where the individual gaze associated with personal experience enters into dialogue with the ways of seeing of other actors. |
