Her questionable anti-Christianbehaviours, the repeated demonic attacks she experienced, and the systematic visitations shereceived from Saint Mary Magdalene made indispensable the implementation of the paradigmaticdiscretio.A close reading of the Histoire admirable et veritable -the documentary source that details thespecifics of the case- allows me to propose the hypothesis that a distinctive form of probatiospirituum was practiced in the affaire Féry. Through visionary experiences, providence instructedthe religious woman on a particular criterion that enabled her to engage in personalized exercisesof self-discernment, granting her access to profound knowledge of Christian doctrine, and providingher with a set of rules, guidelines, and directives that, when put into practice, justified, intensified,and deepened the mechanisms of control that the priests exerted over her.In a context of severe criticisms toward the sacred order and the ecclesiastical institution, the recordof all these events became a panegyric of the hierarchical Catholic prelature. En el presente artículo intento reconstruir el uso y la aplicación del discernimiento de espíritus enel caso de posesión diabólica de Jeanne Féry, monja conventual de las soeurs noires de la localidadde Mons (Países Bajos españoles), ocurrido entre 1584 y 1586. Sus cuestionables conductasanticristianas, los reiterados ataques demoníacos que vivió y las visitas sistemáticas que recibió desanta María Magdalena tornaron indispensable la implementación de la paradigmática discretio.Una lectura cercana de la Histoire admirable et veritable -la fuente documental que recogelos pormenores del caso- me permite proponer como hipótesis que en el affaire Féry se practicóuna peculiar forma de probatio spirituum. A través de experiencias visionarias, la providenciainstruyó a la religiosa en un criterio particular que le permitió realizar personalizados ejerciciosde autodiscernimiento, le posibilitó acceder a conocimientos profundos de la doctrina cristiana,y le proporcionó un conjunto de normas, pautas y directrices que, al ser llevadas a la práctica,justificaron, intensificaron y profundizaron los mecanismos de control que los sacerdotes ejercíansobre ella.En un contexto de severas críticas al orden sagrado y a la institución eclesiástica, el registro de todosestos acontecimientos devino en panegírico de las jerárquicas prelaturas católicas.
