Time Banditry Liberalism Conservatism Tiempo Bandidaje Liberalismo Conservadurismo This paper aims to show the vision that the liberal political class of Aguascalientes constructed in the press about time, the historical process of Mexico and the incidence of banditry within that interpretation. The argument of the article is that banditry became the element that could truncate the historical mission of the liberals to lead the Mexican nation to "progress" by preventing socio-political transformation. This would mean interrupting the flow of time and giving new relevance to the past, which was characterised by the dominance of conservative thought. This approach existed only in public discourse, hence, the problem posed is located in the realm of ideas and the primary sources are liberal newspapers published between 1860 and 1867 in Aguascalientes. We worked with three different representations made by the Aguascalientes liberals: the one that talks about time and the History of Mexico, the one about themselves within that process and the one about banditry. Each of them constitutes a rhetorical piece that evidences the historical transcendence that the liberals attributed to their programme of ideas and the magnitude of banditry within their thinking. This paper aims to show the vision that the liberal political class of Aguascalientes constructed in the press about time, the historical process of Mexico and the incidence of banditry within that interpretation.
