It examines the Argentine romantic group known as the 1837 generation, one of the most important in the cultural and political history in the region. The analysis deals with three questions: a) their reflections and representations on writing; b) the relationships they established between writing and politics; c) the problems they raised related to writing about the past. A series of minor texts such as letters, press articles, manuals, prefaces and theater plays constitute the corpus.
