| Sumario: | After the Independence Wars, the Galicians and Asturians migrations towards Buenos Aires progressively increased. The stage between 1840 and 1860 may be conceived as the beginning of a long migratory cycle from the Spanish Northwest to Argentina. It lasted till the 20 century and decayed after the First World War. In this work we will focus on the period above mentioned, with a double scope. On the one hand, we will contextualize the Galicians' and Asturians' arrival to Buenos Aires in the greater framework of the European immigration to the Rio de la Plata, during the Rosas'government. On the other hand, we will analyze the main characteristics of the Galicians' and Asturians' integration processes, within the "porteño" society. In this sense, we will be interested in examining their spatial location, within the urban context, their labor structure and the marriage patterns. |
