The stage between 1840 and 1860 may be conceived as the beginning of a long migratory cycle from the Spanish Northwest to Argentina. It lasted till the 20 century and decayed after the First World War. In this work we will focus on the period above mentioned, with a double scope. On the one hand, we will contextualize the Galicians' and Asturians' arrival to Buenos Aires in the greater framework of the European immigration to the Rio de la Plata, during the Rosas'government. On the other hand, we will analyze the main characteristics of the Galicians' and Asturians' integration processes, within the "porteño" society. In this sense, we will be interested in examining their spatial location, within the urban context, their labor structure and the marriage patterns. Luego de las guerras de independencia las migraciones de gallegos y asturianos hacia Buenos Aires se incrementaron progresivamente. La etapa comprendida entre 1840 y 1860 puede ser concebida como el inicio de un largo ciclo inmigratorio desde el noroeste hispánico hacia la Argentina, que se prolongó hasta el siglo XX, para decaer tras la Primera Guerra Mundial. En este trabajo nos concentraremos en el mencionado período, con un doble objetivo: por un lado, contextualizar la llegada de gallegos y asturianos a Buenos Aires, en el marco mayor del crecimiento de la inmigración europea al Río de la Plata, durante el rosismo. Por otro lado, analizaremos los rasgos principales de los procesos de integración de los gallegos y asturianos dentro de la sociedad portería. En este sentido, nos interesará focalizar su localización espacial, dentro del ámbito urbano, su estructura laboral y sus pautas matrimoniales. Centro de Estudios Históricos Profesor Carlos S. A.
