| Sumario: | In this work we investigated in the defensive structure of the Buenos Aires southern border and its operation wich took place about the middle of the XVIII century, based on the analysis of «El Zanjón» fort, created as defensive reinforcement in Magdalena in 1752. Unknown documentation found about the fort and guards allowed us to know about the working, as well as the actors who were involved and the defense practices in the southern border area. Owing to the act that it was a question of great conflict in Hispanic-indigenous relations, we perceive how in these moments they organized defensively all the forts and guards among themselves, despite the great distances that separated them and the limited resources available to them. Published sources such as several acts of the Buenos Aires Cabildo and trip logs, wich are documents from the «General Archive of the Nation». |
