The article presents the preliminary results of research in progress on the configuration and recent changes in Argentine political elites, answering the following questions: What role did the dictatorship assign to provincial governors within their complex scheme of power? What relationship did they maintain with the power emanating from the repressive scheme and the economic agenda? How did the dictatorship imagine and recruit the governmental elites that should carry on the authoritarian experience at the provincial level? What educational and professional credentials were valued at the time of building this political elite? How did the dictatorship contribute to the continuity and/or with the beginning of the political careers of their governors? El rol, reclutamiento y carreras políticas de los gobernadores provinciales no se han consolidado aún como temas relevantes en los análisis sobre la última dictadura militar argentina (1976-1983). El artículo presenta los resultados preliminares de investigaciones en curso sobre la configuración y las transformaciones recientes de las elites políticas argentinas, dando cuenta de los siguientes interrogantes: ¿qué rol les asignó la dictadura a los gobernadores provinciales dentro de su complejo esquema de poder? ¿qué relación mantuvieron con el poder emanado del esquema represivo y de la agenda económica? ¿cómo imaginó y cómo reclutó la dictadura a las elites gubernamentales que debían llevar adelante la experiencia autoritaria en el nivel provincial? ¿qué credenciales educativas y profesionales fueron valoradas a la hora de construir esta elite política? ¿de qué forma la dictadura contribuyó con la continuidad y/o el inicio de las carreras políticas de sus gobernadores?
