| Sumario: | The aim of this paper is to explore the political participation of the Provincias Intendencias that begin with the May Revolution. Specifically, we analyze the main problems of governance that occurred in the River Plate area with the establishment of the Juntas Provinciales and Subalternas in 1811. The resumption of sovereignty in Juntas meant exercising new powers by the people, which led to governance challenges related to the manner of exercise that sovereignty, such as the tensions between the major cities with the subaltern, the coexistence of colonial institutions with new revolutionary institutions, and other administrative and jurisdictional problems that illustrate the performance of the Juntas Provinciales and Subalternas. |
