Within the issue of business associations, it is important to inquire about strategies, demands and interests of small and medium Argentine enterprises. In a touristic city such as Mar del Plata, the construction activity was set as one of the masterpieces of the local economy. Although it is similar to other urban places, the demands imposed by tourism encouraged a particular development of the elements of the economic system. This paper analyzes the rise of an employer sector (Centro de Constructores y Anexos) with its proper features in the first half of the twentieth century, considering its organizational structure, origin, strategies and job regulation. Actualmente, en nuestro país existe una serie de estudios sobre los orígenes y la evolución del corporativismo empresarial en diferentes sectores de la industria. Sin embargo, todavía conocemos poco sobre el proceso de profesionalización en la rama de la construcción y sus particularidades en distintos centros urbanos. Dentro de la problemática del asociacionismo empresarial, ello resulta una vía importante para indagar acerca de las estrategias, demandas e intereses del pequeño y mediano empresariado argentino. En una ciudad turística como Mar del Plata, la actividad de la construcción se configuró como una de las ruedas maestras de la economía local. Si bien comparte características de otros itinerarios urbanos, las demandas que imponía el trajín turístico imprimieron un desarrollo particular en los elementos que formaban parte del circuito económico. El objetivo del presente escrito es analizar el nacimiento de un sector patronal (Centro de Constructores y Anexos) con características propias en la primera mitad del siglo XX, teniendo en cuenta su estructura organizacional, origen, estrategias y la reglamentación del oficio.
