In its third period, published in Buenos Aires between 1942 and 1944, it explicitly addressed a Latin-American audience and circulated in many of the region’s countries. This article discusses the magazine’s contents and uses various sources to retrace the ties between González and other Latin-American intellectuals, seeking to ascertain how Guarania acted as a physical medium for intellectual sociability, and how these relationships were later used by González to claim his status as a Latin-American intellectual and seek “absolution”, facing posterity, from his contentious political trajectory. La revista Guarania, fundada por el controvertido escritor, historiador y efímero presidente del Paraguay Juan Natalicio González, fue vehículo de difusión cultural, instrumento de lucha o propaganda política y espacio de sociabilidad intelectual. En su tercera época, editada en Buenos Aires entre 1942 y 1944, la revista se dirigió explícitamente a un público americano y circuló en varios países de la región. Este estudio analiza los contenidos de la revista y reconstruye a través de diversas fuentes los vínculos entre González y otros intelectuales latinoamericanos, a fin de indagar de qué modo la revista funcionó como soporte material de sociabilidades intelectuales y cómo esas relaciones le sirvieron más tarde a González para reivindicar su imagen de intelectual americano y buscar su “absolución” ante la posteridad respecto de su polémica actuación política.
