The implementation of the railroad generated an unprecedented impact not only because of the technological innovation that it meant as a service infrastructure but also, and fundamentally, as an incentive for economic and territorial development. The railway system created a new way of looking, perceiving and experiencing the territory, generating a close relationship between space and time, providing also a panoramic and rapid image of the landscape. This way, It became a symbol of social prestige and played a strategic role in the process of territorial configuration and occupation. It is currently an invisibilized system that generates degraded urban voids and forgotten landscapes. It is essential for the recovery, revaluation and resignification of this system within a framework of sustainability, to reflect and inquire about the architectonic, urban and heritage from an environmental perspective. Este ensayo se enmarca en el trabajo de investigación doctoral cuyo eje de estudio se centra en la interpretación y comprensión del sistema ferroviario y su impacto en la organización del territorio y del paisaje de la pampa húmeda cordobesa. La implantación del ferrocarril generó un impacto sin precedentes no solo por la innovación tecnológica que significaba como infraestructura de servicios sino también y, fundamentalmente, incentivo el desarrollo económico y territorial. El sistema ferroviario planteó una nueva forma de mirar, percibir y vivenciar el territorio generando una estrecha relación entre espacio y tiempo, a la vez que, otorgó una imagen panorámica y veloz del paisaje. Se convirtió, así, en un símbolo de prestigio social y desempeñó rol estratégico en el proceso de ocupación y configuración territorial. Actualmente es un sistema invisibilizado generando vacíos urbanos degradados y paisajes olvidados. Reflexionar e indagar sobre la dimensión urbana, arquitectónica, y patrimonial desde una mirada ambiental y paisajística resulta indispensable para la recuperación, revalorización y resignificación de dicho sistema en un marco de sostenibilidad.
