| Sumario: | Agribusiness is undergoing rapid transformations due to multiple factors that generate a discarded agro-industrial architectural heritage. This usually occurs because it cannot respond effectively to these transformations or be used for other uses. That is why the agro-industrial heritage constitutes a heritage that remains largely forgotten and still far from effective protection (García et. al, 2021) that makes it possible to highlight the great potential that these buildings have to be reused, extending their life. useful and even avoiding its demolition.
The environmental crisis in which we find ourselves makes us reflect on the true value of things, on the durability of products and buildings, it encourages us to seek ways to extend their useful life, to observe abandoned buildings as elements that they can take advantage of.
The reuse of existing buildings constitutes in itself a sustainable strategy since it is possible to extend the life cycle of the materials that constitute it and give the building the possibility of being enabled for a new use. However, the interventions demand new resources, technological, material and human, that is why a sustainable decision would be to think about the possibility of future interventions from the beginning of the project.
One way to generate sustainable architecture is by defining an adequate structural mechanism in the initial stages of the design to achieve greater architectural flexibility, reduce the use of resources, reduce pollution and achieve greater durability, guaranteeing sustainable agro-industrial architecture projects. |
