Agribusiness is undergoing rapid transformations due to multiple factors that generate a discarded agro-industrial architectural heritage. This usually occurs because it cannot respond effectively to these transformations or be used for other uses. That is why the agro-industrial heritage constitutes a heritage that remains largely forgotten and still far from effective protection (García et. al, 2021) that makes it possible to highlight the great potential that these buildings have to be reused, extending their life. useful and even avoiding its demolition.
The environmental crisis in which we find ourselves makes us reflect on the true value of things, on the durability of products and buildings, it encourages us to seek ways to extend their useful life, to observe abandoned buildings as elements that they can take advantage of.
The reuse of existing buildings constitutes in itself a sustainable strategy since it is possible to extend the life cycle of the materials that constitute it and give the building the possibility of being enabled for a new use. However, the interventions demand new resources, technological, material and human, that is why a sustainable decision would be to think about the possibility of future interventions from the beginning of the project.
One way to generate sustainable architecture is by defining an adequate structural mechanism in the initial stages of the design to achieve greater architectural flexibility, reduce the use of resources, reduce pollution and achieve greater durability, guaranteeing sustainable agro-industrial architecture projects. |

La agroindustria sufre aceleradas transformaciones debido a múltiples factores que generan un patrimonio arquitectónico agroindustrial de descarte. Esto suele ocurrir a causa de no poder responder eficazmente a estas transformaciones ni aprovecharse para otros usos. Es por ello que el patrimonio agroindustrial constituye una herencia que permanece en gran parte olvidada y aún alejada de una eficaz protección (García Lozano, 2021) que permita poner en evidencia el gran potencial que tienen estos edificios para ser reusados, alargando su vida útil y hasta evitando su demolición. La crisis medioambiental en la que nos encontramos nos hace reflexionar sobre el verdadero valor de las cosas, sobre la durabilidad de los productos y de las edificaciones, nos incita a buscar la forma de alargar su vida útil, a observar los edificios abandonados como elementos que pueden aprovecharse. La reutilización de edificios existentes constituye en sí una estrategia sostenible ya que se consigue alargar el ciclo de vida de los materiales que lo constituyen y dar al edificio la posibilidad de ser habilitado para un nuevo uso. No obstante, las intervenciones demandan nuevos recursos, tecnológicos, materiales y humanos, es por eso que, una decisión sostenible sería pensar en la posibilidad de intervenciones futuras desde el inicio del proyecto. Un modo de generar arquitectura sustentable es mediante la definición de un mecanismo estructural adecuado en las etapas iniciales del diseño para lograr una mayor flexibilidad arquitectónica, disminuir el uso de recursos, disminuir la contaminación y lograr mayor durabilidad, garantizando proyectos de arquitectura agroindustrial sostenibles.
