In the book Correspondencia, by Alfpha-Decay, readers have access to the letters exchanged between the translator of Rayuela to Serbo-Croatian, Sylvia Monrós-Stojakovic, Julio Cortázar and Carol Dunlop. From letters and postcards initially driven to answer questions about the translation of the book, Monrós-Stojakovic establishes a friendship with Cortázar and, afterwards, with Dunlop, even getting to visit them in Paris. In the rich mail exchanges in this book, the three of them expose their ideas on life, litterature, traduction, secrets, travels and friendship, showing that translation can evolve more than pouring texts from one language to another, but it also allows the human relationship aspect to permeate the process in all its complexity. Monrós-Stojakovic and Dunlop write in a Spanish proper to foreigners trying to express themselves, whilst Cortázar is the only one here who writes in his native argentinian Spanish. The political reality of those times is also approached with reports and reflections about political happenings in Serbia in 1980’s and the travels through a politically charged Latin America taken by the couple living in France. This work aims to show that the mail exchange between author and translator allows a deeper vision of ideologies, intercultural and personal relations established and that translation itself can be a way to relate to the world and to people, getting together those that wouldn’t get to know each other any other way. Presenting the content of the letters in Correspondencia, one can also gain access to Cortázar and Dunlop’s lasts years, something that may concern those who study their work, and here are also revealed some aspects of how they both related to the sickness that lead to their demise.

Julio Cortázar e Carol Dunlop, ambos escritores que também atuaram como tradutores, compartilharam dos últimos anos de suas vidas como um casal e juntos publicaram seu último livro, Autonautas da Cosmopista. No livro Correspondencia, da editora Alpha-Decay, o leitor tem acesso à correspondência entre a tradutora de Rayuela para o servo-croata Silvia Monrós-Stojakovic, Julio Cortázar e Carol Dunlop. A partir de cartas e cartões postais inicialmente voltados para dúvidas de tradução, Monrós-Stojakovic estabelece uma amizade com Cortázar e posteriormente com Dunlop, chegando mesmo a visitá-los em Paris. Na rica correspondência reunida neste livro, os três trocam ideias sobre a vida, literatura, tradução, segredos, viagens e a amizade, mostrando que a tradução envolve mais do que verter textos de uma língua para outra, mas que permite deixar o relacionamento humano permear esse processo em toda sua complexidade. Monrós-Stojakovic e Dunlop escrevem em um espanhol peculiar de quem está se expressando em uma língua estrangeira, enquanto que Cortázar é o único que escreve em seu espanhol nativo argentino. A realidade política da época também fica ali explícita com os relatos e reflexões da agitação política da Sérvia dos anos 1980 e das viagens do casal estrangeiro que vive na França e percorre países de uma América Latina turbulenta. Este trabalho tem por objetivo mostrar que a correspondência tradutor-autor possibilita enxergar ao fundo as ideologias, relações interculturais e pessoais que se estabelecem e que a tradução pode ser encarada como uma forma de relacionar-se com o mundo e com as pessoas, juntando assim indivíduos que não teriam contato de qualquer outra forma. Apresentando o conteúdo das missivas presentes nesta obra, também se tem acesso aos últimos anos de vida de Cortázar e Dunlop, algo que pode despertar o interesse dos estudiosos da obra dos autores, e aqui também são revelados alguns aspectos de como os dois se relacionavam com o estado de doença que os levou a falecer.
