A general reflection on the syntactic, lexical and semantic nature of verbs». Our work aims to provide a contribution in relation to the sensitive difficulties that may arise for a translator, at the level of the interface between lexical semantics and syntax when translating into Spanish. We start from the idea that the meaning of the words determines their syntactic representation, we observe, then, that many translators have doubts about the correct ways of expressing a concept in Spanish and hesitate about the degree of acceptability or grammaticality that it manifests in the translated sentences. For example, given the expression: The glass was broken, should it be translated «el vaso se rompió» or «el vaso estaba roto»? It is likely that few prefer to say «el vaso fue roto», but do translators have enough tools to explain why they discard this option? We believe that this material can facilitate, in particular for translators and teachers, the understanding of the interface between syntax and semantics since it is the semantics of the verb that determines the syntactic components that account for the good formation of a sentence. Desde 2017, en el equipo dirigido por la Dra. Hilda Albano, investigamos las características semánticas y sintácticas de los verbos para crear un «Esbozo de diccionario de verbos en español desde la perspectiva de la estructura argumental. Una reflexión general sobre la naturaleza sintáctica, léxica y semántica de los verbos». Nuestro trabajo tiene por finalidad brindar un aporte en relación con las sensibles dificultades que pueden presentársele a un traductor, en el nivel de la interfaz entre la semántica léxica y la sintaxis cuando ha de traducir al español.Partimos de la idea de que el significado de las palabras determina su representación sintáctica, observamos, entonces, que a muchos traductores se les plantean dudas respecto de las formas correctas de expresar un concepto en español y vacilan sobre el grado de aceptabilidad o de gramaticalidad que se manifiesta en las oraciones traducidas. Por ejemplo, ante la expresión: The glass was broken, ¿conviene traducir «el vaso se rompió» o «el vaso estaba roto»? Es probable que pocos prefieran decir «el vaso fue roto», pero, ¿los traductores tienen herramientas suficientes para explicar por qué descartan esta opción? Creemos que este material puede facilitar, en particular a traductores y docentes, la comprensión de la interfaz entre la sintaxis y la semántica puesto que es la semántica del verbo la que determina los componentes sintácticos que dan cuenta de la buena formación de una oración.
