Many such uses are connected to the standard norm, while others evidence a break away from such rule, something which does not entail ungrammaticality, but rather, these uses emerge as clear evidence that the conceptualizations that underlie them steer away from that shown by a standard form. Out of an interest in analyzing such non-standard uses from a view of grammar as emergent from discourse (Bybee and Hopper, 2001), we understand a language as a collection of heterogeneous constructions, which are in line with different contexts and are constantly adapted to use (Langacker, 1987, in Bybee and Hopper, 2001). The specific goal of the present article is to outline the methodological steps we took and the theoretical path we followed with a view to arriving at answers to the question that guides our research: which images, or conceptualizations, may be at the bottom of non-standard forms, which, at the same time, give way to their emergence? En la cátedra Gramática Contrastiva, del Traductorado de inglés, Facultad de Lenguas, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, nos interesa generar conciencia entre nuestro alumnado respecto de que las formas que empleamos quienes hablamos una lengua están vinculadas con modos variopintos de concebir las situaciones. Muchos de esos usos se conectan con la norma estándar, mientras que otros manifiestan un rompimiento de dicha regla, lo que no conlleva agramaticalidad, sino se erigen como una muestra palpable de que las conceptualizaciones que los subyacen se alejan de aquella que refleja una forma normativa. A partir de un interés por analizar las formas no estándares desde una concepción de la gramática como emergente del discurso (Bybee y Hopper, 2001), aceptamos la idea de lengua como una colección de construcciones heterogéneas, que presentan afinidades con diferentes contextos y se encuentran en constante adaptación al uso (Langacker, 1987, en Bybee y Hopper, 2001). El objetivo específico de esta comunicación es explicitar los pasos metodológicos que seguimos y el recorrido teórico que hicimos para empezar a propiciar respuestas a la pregunta que guía nuestra investigación: ¿cuáles imágenes, o conceptualizaciones, pueden hallarse en la base de las formas no estándares, las cuales, al mismo tiempo, posibilitan su emergencia?
