| Sumario: | To inquire into "sex", as proposed in the book, is to assume it in all the complexity that the word summons: beyond the biologicist reductionisms -but, also, going through them and crossing them in their conformation and historical density-, what it is about is to study the varied bundle of practices and desires that bodies want, can and/or are capable of. Thus, the chapters gathered in the book stress from the beginning the grammatical structure of any preposition attached to "sex": the research is both "of" sex and "with" sex, " through" sex, "from" sex, to give just a few examples. "Studying sex" from a critical look at normativities is to be challenged by the relationality of the category, and by the need to interrogate the processes of desexualization that produce the notions of Subject - Object - Method as separable and neutral. "Sexualizing Research," with its incitement to scandal, highlights how sexuality and research seem to have been co-produced in logics of contiguity that rest on a scrupulous mutual refusal. The variable connectors for this title are deployed in the methodological questions that each article raises about the action of its particular research. |
