For this purpose, a theoretical-exploratory tour is made on the concepts of rural community, capital and the processes of original accumulation as a means for the expansion of capitalist logic. Subsequently, taking as a case study the Antinaco - Los Colorados Valley, located in the province of La Rioja, Argentina, we analyze how the expansion of capital in the twentieth century affected rural community-based social relations. In order to accomplish this, a bibliographical exploration of the subject in general and of the Valley of study in particular was carried out. Finally, by way of conclusion, the peasant political economy is related as another way of sustaining social relations outside the capitalist system, allowing, on this basis, to think about other horizons of life. El presente trabajo tiene como principal objetivo, explorar teóricamente la relación entre la expansión del capital y la afectación de las relaciones sociales rurales de base comunitaria. Para ello se realiza un recorrido teórico-exploratorio sobre los conceptos de comunidad rural, capital y los procesos de acumulación originaria como medio para la expansión de la lógica capitalista. Posterior a ello, tomando como estudio de caso el Valle de Antinaco – Los Colorados, ubicado en la provincia de La Rioja, Argentina, se analiza cómo la expansión del capital en el siglo XX afectó las relaciones sociales rurales de base comunitaria. Para cumplir con ello, se realizó una exploración bibliográfica sobre la temática en general y sobre el Valle de estudio en particular. Finalmente, a modo de conclusión se relaciona la economía política campesina como otra forma de sostener relaciones sociales por fuera del sistema capitalista, permitiendo en base a ello, pensar otros horizontes de vida.
