A historical reconstruction of the region is carried out with the purpose of understanding both the life history of the indigenous people and their communities, as well as their events in their social resistance in the Altos de Chiapas. Desde un tratamiento de la historia oral, el artículo recoge la participación de catequistas y diáconos y agentes pastorales, en el propio proceso de surgimiento del movimiento catequístico y diaconal particularmente en dos de las comunidades de la zona alta tojolobal: San Miguel Chiptik y Lomantan. Se realiza una reconstrucción histórica de la región con el propósito de comprender tanto la historia de vida de los indígenas y sus comunidades, cuanto de su acontecer en su resistencia social en los Altos de Chiapas.
