Introduction: The global health crisis at the end of 2019 caused by the Sars-Cov-2 virus posed a huge challenge to health professionals; the city of Córdoba, Argentina, was not exempt from this scenario. The following report showed how the COVID-19 death protocol, implemented in children at a public hospital from this city, caused a lot of professionals to feel the emotional impact of carrying out this duty. Objective: To establish the experiences of nursing professionals who provided medical care at a COVID-19 critical care unit at a Public Hospital in the city of Córdoba, during the implementation of the pediatric COVID-19 death protocol. Methodology: A qualitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, phenomenological-interpretative study was carried out through in-depth interviews with nursing professionals. The sample consisted of ten nurses with more than three years of experience in pediatric intensive care and who carried out the COVID-19 death protocol at the Public Facility in this city. Two of the nurses did not accept to take part in the study and one of them could not be contacted, since she was on leave. The number was enough to achieve data saturation, heterogeneity, idoneity and variability. The method of analysis used was content analysis. Results: The findings were organized according to the specific objectives and the chronological moment of each event, and were presented in categories such as the conceptualization of the findings, the narratives on which they are based, and the researchers’ theoretical and subjective interpretation of them. Conclusion: Firstly, the categories that emerged were uncertainty, fear of the unknown, repressing the lived experience and trying to avoid awareness of its occurrence. Secondly, the categories were sadness, anguish and depersonalization of the patient. Thirdly, the categories were support and teamwork, empathy, well-being and task completion relief. Both good and bad experiences bring about learning. While, as stated in this research, nursing is prepared to provide support during the death process, the importance of delivering the bodies of children who leave this world was analyzed, that is, the importance of giving them a dignified farewell filled with the human warmth of those who are present in their last moments. |

Introducción: La crisis sanitaria mundial a finales de 2019 provocada por el virus Sars- Cov-2, presentó un enorme desafío para el profesional de la salud y en Argentina, la Ciudad de Córdoba no estuvo exenta. El siguiente informe evidenció cómo el protocolo post-mortem Covid 19 implementado en niños, en un hospital público de esa ciudad, provocó que muchos de los profesionales sintieran el impacto emocional de realizar esta tarea. Objetivo: Establecer las experiencias de los profesionales de enfermería al realizar el protocolo de óbito pediátrico por Covid 19 que brindaron atención en el área de Covid Crítico de un Hospital Público de la Ciudad de Córdoba. Metodología: Estudio de investigación cualitativo, descriptivo, transversal, de tipo fenomenológico-interpretativo, mediante entrevistas en profundidad a profesionales de enfermería. La muestra estuvo conformada por 10 enfermeras con más de tres años en cuidados intensivos pediátricos y que realizaron el protocolo de óbito por Covid en la institución pública de esa ciudad, 2 no aceptaron y una no pudo ser contactada por encontrarse de licencia, el número fue suficiente para lograr la saturación, heterogeneidad, idoneidad y variabilidad de los datos, se utilizó para el análisis el método de análisis de contenido. Resultados: Los hallazgos encontrados fueron ordenados según los objetivos específicos, el momento cronológico del evento y presentados en categorías, su conceptualización, las narrativas que los sustentan y la interpretación teórica y subjetiva de los investigadores. Conclusión: En un primer momento, las categorías que surgieron fueron incertidumbre y miedo a lo desconocido; reprimir el momento vivido y tratar de evadir su realización. En el segundo momento fueron: tristeza y angustia; despersonalización del paciente. En el tercer momento fueron apoyo y trabajo en equipo; empatía; bienestar y alivio de la tarea cumplida. Las buenas o malas experiencias traen aprendizajes y si bien, como se menciona en la investigación, la enfermería está preparada para las acciones que acompañan el proceso de morir, se examinó la importancia de entregar los cuerpos de los niños fallecidos con una despedida digna, con el calor humano de las manos que lo preparan para partir. Introdução: A crise sanitária global no final de 2019 causada pelo vírus Sars-Cov-2, apresentou um enorme desafio para o profissional de saúde e na Argentina a cidade de Córdoba não ficou isenta. O relato a seguir mostrou como o protocolo post mortem da Covid 19 implementado em crianças, em um hospital público daquela cidade, fez com que muitos dos profissionais sentissem o impacto emocional da realização dessa tarefa. Objetivo: Conhecer as experiências dos profissionais de enfermagem na execução do protocolo de óbito pediátrico por Covid 19 que prestavam atendimento na área Covid Crítica de um Hospital Público da Cidade de Córdoba. Metodologia: Pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, transversal, fenomenológico-interpretativa, por meio de entrevistas em profundidade com profissionais de enfermagem. A amostra foi composta por 10 enfermeiras com mais de três anos de terapia intensiva pediátrica e que realizavam o protocolo de óbito por Covid na instituição pública daquele município, 2 não aceitaram e uma não pôde ser contatada por estar afastada, a número foi suficiente para atingir saturação, heterogeneidade, adequação e variabilidade dos dados, utilizou-se para a análise o método de análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Os achados encontrados foram ordenados de acordo com os objetivos específicos, o momento cronológico do evento e apresentados em categorias, sua conceituação, as narrativas que os sustentam e a interpretação teórica e subjetiva dos pesquisadores. Conclusão: Num primeiro momento, as categorias que emergiram foram incerteza e medo do desconhecido; reprimir o momento vivido e tentar fugir de sua realização. No segundo momento foram: tristeza e angústia; Despersonalização do paciente. No terceiro momento foram apoio e trabalho em equipe; Empatia; bem-estar e alívio da tarefa realizada. Experiências boas ou ruins trazem aprendizado e embora, como mencionado na pesquisa, a enfermagem esteja preparada para as ações que acompanham o processo de morrer, foi examinada a importância da entrega dos corpos das crianças que deixam este mundo, desta terra uma despedida digna, com o calor humano das mãos que a preparam para partir.
