description Introduction: Research is an essential activity for nursing professionals and for the enrichment of the discipline. Training in methodological aspects and in the selection of study topics during undergraduate training is essential. Objectives: to determine what type of final project and what topics of study are selected by the students of the Bachelor of Nursing at the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) to pass the subject Final Project. Methodology: type of study: exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional. Site: DCS. UNS. Universe: all the final works to pass the subject Final Work carried out by students of the Nursing Degree of the UNS from 2011 to 2018. Data collection instrument and technique: The information of each work was organized in a data dump table elaborated by the authors based on the variables and dimensions determined for the study. Results: The 88 papers were classified as follows: research papers: 24; theoretical essays: 18; theoretical-empirical essays: 13; intervention projects: 4; systematization of experience: 1; state of affairs: 7; exploratory study: 4; experience report: 2; research projects: 15. Analysis of selected topics: 40% are linked to the lines of the DCS. 98% are related to relevant or priority issues for nursing in Latin America. All use a qualitative methodological design. Discussion and Conclusion: This research shows descriptive data on the types of work and the study topics that were selected by the students of the Bachelor of Nursing as part of the Final Work, so the results should be understood in this context, not pretending the comparison with other similar studies. The final papers presented are mostly research papers, then theoretical essays and research projects. 40% is related to DCS research lines. 98% fit into the list of relevant or priority issues in Latin America. 100% of the Research Works use the methodological design.
