| Sumario: | ABSTRACTIntroduction: The University as a “social institution” has teaching, research and extension functions according to Bogado and Fedoruk (2007). The Nursing School who belongs to the School of Medical Sciences of the National University of Córdoba fulfils these same functions, while it is the University Extension Department the onewhich allows the students’ connection with the community, where students take care of and answer to its demands, share knowledge, offer feedback among themselves, foster preventive behaviors and reduce the potential risks of certain situations or unforeseen events. The objective was to determine the perception of the Nursing School students (School of Medical Sciences of the National University of Córdoba)who participated in University Extension activities at special Schools in 2019. Methodology: The study was retrospective, descriptive and cross-sectional, population: Nursing Licenciate Course students who participated in Extension activities at special schools. The instrument was the online self-administered survey “The Scale of Attitudes toward Disabled Persons.” Results: 23 students who were between 28 and 31 years of age participated in these activities, which equals 31 %. 78 % of women were in their third year of studies and (34 %) and 7 women were in their second year (31 %). The feelings they experienced more frequently were fear, anxiety and uncertainty. When giving value to the skills and limitations of special students, the 87 % consider that disabled persons are not less intelligent and that they recognize their own rights and have a positive attitude and good self-concept. Conclusion: The nursing students have attitudes towards disability that are based on acceptance and respect towards the individual differences of each person as it is an inherent condition of human nature. |
