Sumario:ABSTRACT Introduction: The expectation about professional nursing care actions is what the userexpects from nursing care. The professional nurse provides a service of vital importance inthe development of competencies, dependent and independent functions and of nurse-patientrelationships at the outpatient clinic of the clinical medicine department of the Nuestra Señoradel Rosario Hospital in Abra Pampa, province of Jujuy, Argentina, in the year 2019. Objective:To identify the users’ expectations about the independent and dependent activities and thenurse-patient relationships. Method: A cross-sectional, descriptive, observational study wascarried out, which included people over 17 year old of both genders. The sample was composedof 96 individuals who were interviewed through a semi-structured survey, which includedthe dependent and independent nursing care actions and nurse-patient relationships. Results:Regarding independent actions, 32.3 % of users expected safety, while 7.3% expected quickness.Regarding dependent actions, 46.9 % of users expected safety regarding the administration ofinjectables and healing, while 8 % expected not to feel pain. According to the data, 21 % ofsurveyees expected comprehensible information, 16.5 % of them expected concrete informationand 15 % clear information. Besides, 35.5 % of the participants expected friendly treatmentand 20.4 % expected fair treatment. Discussion and Conclusion: It was possible to know theusers’ expectations about nursing care actions of the nurse as a professional who providesa service of vital importance at the outpatient clinic by encouraging individuals to maintainand boost their health and by taking care of ill and healthy people. According to Gomis, it isexpected that the nursing professionals’ attention displays technical ability, quality, efficacyand efficiency. At the same time, it coincides with Torres Esperón and Urbina Laza claims,quoted by Espinoza Carrión. They state that said actions are the ones performed by the nursingpersonnel as delegated by other professionals.
