| Sumario: | Introduction Organ, tissue and cell transplants have become a global practice which allows human life extension and improvement. Technical and technological advances have improved both effectiveness and acceptability, resulting in a demand increase for these practices. In the development of this process, Nursing has a key role in assisting the potential donor, as well as in supporting their family. Attitudes are psychosocial phenomena through which cognitive, emotional and behavioural aspects become intertwined. Objective: The objective was to esta blish the attitudes towards tissue and organ procurement processes of high-complexity service nurses at Hospital Córdoba from July to August of 2019. Methodology: A quantitative, des criptive, cross-sectional study was conducted. Participants: 53 nurses. Collection method and instrument: A Likert scale-questionnaire survey was carried out. Results: 86.79 % of nurses expressed indifference towards the organ and tissue procurement process, while 7.55 % of them displayed a positive attitude and 5.66 % presented a negative one. In relation to the dimensions, according to the principles present in the Act No. 27.447, it was found that 58.49 % of nurses presented a positive attitude, 37.44 % expressed indifference and 3.77 % of them displayed a negative attitude. When detecting a potential donor, 58 % of nurses expressed indifference, 36 % presented a positive attitude and 6% of them displayed a negative one. When providing care to a donor, 49.06 % of them expressed indifference, 47.17 % presented a positive attitude and 3.77 % displayed a negative one. When relating to a potential donor’s family, 58.48 % of nurses expressed indifference, 26.41 % presented a positive attitude and 15.10 % displayed a negative one. Discussion/Conclusion: Indifference towards the organ and tissue procurement process was found among the nursing professional staff. To conclude, it must be emphasized that, although a positive cognitive level regarding the process was observed, such cognitive level does not necessarily lead to consistent actions. Thus, in practice, the professional’s behaviour is inconsistent since they predominantly expressed indifference as part of their behavioural component. |
