In this encounter, as described on the website of the FFYH, the discussion centered around “the relationship between linguistic rights and human rights, between the right to speak and the right to have a dignified life, the right to one's own speech and thought, and between the right to say and to do”. Within this framework, our objective was to engage in a dialogue with various representatives of the current Linguistics field on the role of the linguist and "studying linguistics" in the current socio-political context. To achieve this, we conducted a series of semi-structured interviews arranged around five starting questions. In this particular interview, we talked to María López García about "the importance of doing Linguistics in teacher training institutes in contexts where support for science are varied" El III Encuentro: derechos lingüísticos como derechos humanos en Latinoamérica(...) tuvo lugar los días 21, 22 y 23 de mayo de 2024, en la FFYH de la UNC. Este encuentro “plantea la relación entre los DDHH y los DDHH, entre el derecho a la palabra y el derecho a la vida digna, el derecho al discurso y el pensamiento propios, el derecho al decir y al hacer” (FFYH, 2024). En dicho marco, nuestro objetivo fue dialogar con diversos representantes del área sobre el rol de lx lingüista y “hacer lingüística” en el contexto sociopolítico actual. Para eso, realizamos una serie de entrevistas presenciales y semiestructuradas a partir de cinco preguntas base. En esta entrevista se dialogó con María López García para pensar “la importancia de hacer lingüística en institutos de formación docente en contextos donde el apoyo a la ciencia varía” (FFYH, 2024).
