The concept of semantic prosody is understood as the "aura of meaning" (Louw, 1993) or the "evaluative intention" (Sinclair, 1996; Stubbs, 2001) that arises due to the semantic load of certain words in combination with other words. For this study, the words pueblo and populismo in collocations with verbal participial adjectives were analyzed in a corpus of Latin American Spanish. The results show a negative semantic prosody in the combinations with the noun pueblo and a mixed semantic prosody in the combinations with the noun populismo.
