This study aimed to explore the development of reading prosody and its relationship with reading comprehension, by conducting a longitudinal study in primary school Chilean students in second and third grade. Participants were recorded reading aloud a narrative text including declarative, exclamatory and interrogative sentences. Recordings were analysed using Praat software to measure some prosodic features (specifically pauses and duration). Additionally, it is intended that this research contributes to the study of reading development not only in Chile but also in Hispanic America. La lectura prosódica se considera uno de los indicadores fundamentales, junto con la precisión y la velocidad, al evaluar la fluidez lectora. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo explorar el desarrollo de la prosodia en la lectura y su relación con la comprensión lectora, mediante la realización de un estudio longitudinal en estudiantes chilenos de segundo y tercer grado de primaria. Los participantes fueron grabados leyendo en voz alta un texto narrativo que incluía oraciones declarativas, exclamativas e interrogativas. Las grabaciones fueron analizadas utilizando el software Praat para medir algunas características prosódicas (específicamente las pausas y la duración). Se pretende, además, que esta investigación sea una contribución para el estudio sobre el desarrollo de la lectura no solo en Chile sino que también en Hispanoamérica.
