There is a clear communicative need to resort to language as a space of symbolic power through which many seek to make themselves heard. El presente ensayo pretende señalar la necesidad social de repensar el lenguaje cotidiano, ya que incide de forma directa en cómo es construida la identidad de los sujetos. A través de una revisión bibliográfica que permita desarrollar el carácter social del lenguaje, el objetivo será demostrar la necesidad de un cambio en el uso de este por ser una herramienta a través de la cual expresamos pensamientos y/u opiniones. Resulta imprescindible entender al lenguaje como el resultado de factores sociales con la característica de modificarse o adaptarse a las necesidades de la sociedad en que se encuentra, puesto que es a través de este y de la cultura que las identidades se configuran. Hay una clara necesidad comunicativa de recurrir a la lengua como espacio de poder simbólico a través del cual muchxs buscan hacerse escuchar.
