description Moods and emotions are part of the conscious experience of all people and may influence the actions they take and the decisions they make. Beside, like many other aspects of psychology, the moods experienced and the emotions felt are the result of the interaction of several neurotransmitters in the brain. Neurosciences have identified many different factors that influence the probability of experiencing certain states of mind and/or emotional vulnerability, and genomics provides the definition of markers that allow to identifiy genetic trends of risk or susceptibility to suffering from psychiatric or emotional pathologies such as depression and anxiety. Determining genetic traits, establishing the genomic profile by evaluating polymorphisms associated with emotional well-being, constitute a useful tool for decision-making for the prediction and implementation of targeted and precise prevention strategies, which is today the goal of the new health care paradigm: predictive, preventive, personalised medicine.
