The purpose of this article is to raise awareness about the effects of consuming sweet drinks on our health, as well as to offer health professionals information on the different hypotheses about how excessive consumption of sugars impacts the biology of psychosystems, neuro-immuno, and endocrinological. Reason for which this brief review was written considering the most recent publications using he keywords sugar and its relationship with: inflammation, obesity, autoimmunity, rheumatoid arthritis, brain, emotions.

La dieta occidental se caracteriza por el consumo de alimentos procesados y refinados, incluye el exceso en la ingesta de grasas y carbohidratos (azúcares), lo que nos lleva a una mal nutrición y a un desbalance energético. El consumo en exceso de sacarosa y fructuosa presente en las bebidas dulces se ha asociado con desórdenes metabólicos como diabetes mellitus tipo II, enfermedades cardiovasculares, hígado graso no alcohólico, obesidad, cáncer de mama, dificultad en aprendizaje, pérdida de la memoria, ansiedad y depresión. El objeto de este artículo es destacar los efectos negativos del consumo de bebidas dulces en nuestra salud, así como ofrecer a los profesionales de la salud información de las diferentes hipótesis sobre como el consumo en exceso de azúcares impacta en la biología de los sistemas psico-neuro-inmuno-endocrinológicos. Prevalece no mundo a dieta occidental, que se caracteriza pelo consumo de alimentos processados e refinados, somado ao consumo excessivo de gorduras e carboidratos (açúcares), o que leva à desnutrição e ao desequilíbrio energético. O consumo excessivo de sacarose presente em bebidas açucaradas tem sido associado a distúrbios metabólicos como diabetes mellitus tipo II, doenças cardiovasculares, doença hepática gordurosa não alcoólica, obesidade, câncer de mama, dificuldades de aprendizagem e perda de memória, ansiedade e depressão. O objetivo deste artigo é conscientizar sobre os efeitos do consumo de bebidas doces na saúde, bem como oferecer aos profissionais de saúde informações sobre as diferentes hipóteses sobre como o consumo excessivo de açúcares impacta a biologia dos psicossistemas. . Motivo pelo qual esta breve revisão foi escrita considerando as publicações mais recentes utilizando as palavras-chave açúcar e sua relação com: inflamação, obesidade, autoimunidade, artrite reumatóide, cérebro, emoções.
