Is love just an evolutionary progression to stay longer with the most suitable partner for reproduction? These questions and others are the ones that self interpellate the author in this article, answering them from the perspective of the neurobiology of love between human beings, its stages and characteristics. Several reflections are proposed and discussed in a particular way from psychological, behavioral, neuroanatomical and neurochemical approaches according to the evidence of comparative ethology, evolutionary development and historical antecedents. ¿Cuándo empezó el amor? ¿En qué momento histórico de la humanidad? ¿Cuándo el intercambio sexual animal se convirtió en algo más profundo y duradero? ¿Es el amor solo una prolongación evolutiva para permanecer más tiempo con el partenaire más apto para la reproducción? Estos interrogantes y otros son los que interpelan a la autora en este artículo, respondiéndolos desde el enfoque de la neurobiología del amor entre los seres humanos, sus etapas y características. Se analizan y se proponen reflexiones en forma particular desde enfoques sicológicos, conductuales, neuroanatómicos y neuroquímicos según las evidencias de la etología comparada, el desarrollo evolutivo y los antecedentes históricos. Quando o amor começou? Em que momento histórico da humanidade? Quando a relação sexual animal se tornou mais profunda e duradoura? O amor é apenas uma extensão evolutiva para ficar mais tempo com o parceiro mais adequado para a reprodução? Estas e outras questões são as que desafiam a autora neste artigo, respondendo-as sob a ótica da neurobiologia do amor entre os seres humanos, suas fases e características. As reflexões são analisadas e propostas de forma particular a partir de abordagens psicológicas, comportamentais, neuroanatômicas e neuroquímicas de acordo com as evidências da etologia comparada, desenvolvimento evolutivo e os antecedentes históricos.
