Consequently, the design of a database elaborated to study the ways in which state agencies dealt with social conflict at the end of the 20th century, is presented. First, quantitative history and its implications in the construction of historiographic problems are shown. Secondly, the methodological design of the database is presented, focusing on the relational definition of the unit of analysis, the structure of the database and the variables that compose it. Finally, the use of the newspaper as a historical source is problematized from the reconstruction of the central methodological criticisms formulated by the referents on the field of this study. In addition, a series of methodological precautions adopted in the database to control the biases identified by the critics are exhibited. El trabajo aborda la temática de las perspectivas metodológicas cuantitativas en el campo de estudio sobre el conflicto social en la historia argentina reciente. Lo hace a partir de la presentación del diseño de una base de datos elaborada para estudiar las formas en que las agencias estatales tramitaron el conflicto social a fines del siglo XX. En primer lugar, se presenta la historia cuantitativa y sus implicancias en la construcción de problemas historiográficos. En segundo lugar, se presenta el diseño metodológico de la base, focalizando en la definición relacional de la unidad de análisis, la estructura de la base y las variables que la componen. Finalmente, se problematiza el uso del periódico como fuente histórica a partir de la reconstrucción de las críticas metodológicas centrales formuladas por referentes del campo de estudios. Además, se expone una serie de recaudos metodológicos adoptados en la base de datos para el control de los sesgos localizados por la crítica. Centro de Estudios Históricos “Prof. Carlos S. A.
