Three variables were considered: areas covered and cultivated, machines and tools, and rural population. The aim of this comparison was to assess the range and reliability of the data obtained by both surveys, at department and district levels, and also to identify particular characteristics of the Pampean Cordoba expansion at the end of the XIX century. The main findings show that the Census had a narrower range due to the deficient data collection in the Cruz Alta district. The comparison of data on machines and tools yielded less significant discrepancies thanks, in part, to greater ease of counting. Likewise, the population data recorded smaller differences, except for Cruz Alta, as a consequence of the simplicity of the count and the fact that this information was assumed to have no economic effect on the people surveyed. En el artículo se comparan los datos provenientes de las cédulas y el boletín de agricultura del Segundo Censo Nacional de 1895 con la Inspección de colonias de la campaña de 1895-1896 pertenecientes al departamento Marcos Juárez, a través de tres variables: superficies abarcadas y cultivadas, máquinas y herramientas y población rural. El cotejo apuntó a determinar el alcance y la verosimilitud de la información provista por cada relevamiento, a nivel departamental y de cada pedanía y, a la vez, identificar aspectos singulares de la expansión agraria pampeana cordobesa de fines del siglo XIX. Los hallazgos indican que la amplitud del censo fue menor por la deficiente recolección de datos en la pedanía Cruz Alta. Menos discrepancias se observaron del cotejo de máquinas y herramientas por la facilidad en el conteo. Igualmente, fueron exiguas las diferencias entre datos poblacionales, salvo en Cruz Alta; además, porque esta información no tendría efectos económicos para el empadronado.
