It argues that it is important to search for these kinds of internal materials (together with other police related papers) to overcome classic and misleading perceptions of a unique police image. Tomando el desafío de ponderar comprehensivamente las fuentes institucionales de la policía, y basado en la historia de la policía de la provincia de Buenos Aires del siglo XX como estudio de caso, este trabajo propone analizar los alcances y limitaciones de dichos documentos de producción interna, argumentando que los mismos distan mucho de presentar una única imagen de la policía. De esta manera, se busca una valorización de estas fuentes documentales para que, en conjunción con las otras que comienzan a ser exploradas, puedan aportar a un campo de investigación en plena expansión.
