It is also social insofar as it is the agents and groups that construct it and integrate it into the framework of their practices. It expresses and materializes social, economic and cultural differences, conflicts and political changes, beliefs and symbols. It is, at the same time, the product of a society and a space that enables and conditions social interaction and agents' practices. It generates imaginaries and produces meanings. Sea cual fuere el espacio temporal de la historia que analicemos, sea que nos refiramos a la polis griega, a las ciudades medievales, barrocas, burguesas o globalizadas del siglo XXI, la construcción de la ciudad constituye, en esencia, un proceso dinámico que no tiene fin ya que a lo largo del tiempo dicha construcción se va redefiniendo y transformando -sin que este proceso implique un desarrollo evolutivo lineal. Es también social en la medida de que son los agentes y los grupos los que la construyen y la integran al marco de sus prácticas. Expresa y materializa las diferencias sociales, económicas y culturales, los conflictos y los cambios políticos, las creencias y los símbolos. Es, a la vez, el producto de una sociedad y un espacio que posibilita y condiciona la interacción social y las prácticas de los agentes. Es generadora de imaginarios y productora de significados.
